The Nike Doernbecher Freestyle Program celebrates an extraordinary milestone: 20 years of creativity, solidarity, and hope. Born from a collaboration with the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, the project allows young patients to design their own sneakers, transforming their stories of courage into unique designs. The 2024 edition once again confirms the power of this program, offering space to six young talents, Connor, Ja’Kai, Jillian, Quin, Sophia, and Tima, who have created personal and deeply meaningful designs.

Among the most touching models in the collection is the Air Jordan 6 Doernbecher, designed by Jillian Beagley. After facing a severe liver disease since childhood and an 11-year-old liver transplant, Jillian wanted to encapsulate a message of gratitude, rebirth, and love for sports in her sneaker. Today, a young athlete with a state basketball championship title, she has created a shoe that tells her story of strength and passion for life.

Her Air Jordan 6 stands out with its interchangeable patches, customizable toe boxes, and the handwritten message “SPORTS ARE MY JOY,” a true mantra reflecting the joy and determination with which she faces every challenge. The phrase “Give Life” is prominent on the toe, a tribute to her donor and the gift of a second chance. Every detail is imbued with her deepest message: the belief that each of us is “Pure Gold” when we remain true to ourselves.

As every year, the proceeds from the Doernbecher Freestyle Program will be allocated to support the Area of Greatest Need at OHSU Children's Hospital.
